The New Development Solutions Group (CE Solutions)
“Proven, intelligent social entrepreneurship”
The New Development Solutions Group (NDSG) is the umbrella organization for the entities created by Greg Van Kirk (an Ashoka Fellow) and George “Bucky” Glickley, former Peace Corps Volunteers and successful social entrepreneurs. NDSG’s leaders utilize their in-depth experience to work with development organizations, institutions, universities and passionate individuals to design and implement smart, scalable and highly- integrated impact models for constituents in vulnerable communities. Our team is working everyday in the field to create access to opportunities and empower our beneficiaries. Our success is based on the fact that we tirelessly seek out innovative and sustainable responses to long-standing challenges. All of the entities working in under the NDSG umbrella play an integral role as team members in the fight against poverty.

Community Enterprise Solutions
“Changing Obstacles into Opportunities”
www.cesolutions.org
Community Enterprise Solutions (CE Solutions), a US Not for Profit 501 (c) (3) founded in 2004, is a social enterprise innovation incubator and implementation mechanism working in Guatemala and Ecuador. CE Solutions was established with the goal of empowering business and educational entrepreneurs to make a difference in their communities. CE Solutions identifies, trains, equips and supports entrepreneurs to provide sustainable solutions that address long-standing rural economic, health and educational problems. We change "obstacles into opportunities" by converting traditional relief solutions into high-impact and locally-owned and managed social enterprises and institutions. CE Solutions is the nonprofit sister organization of Social Entrepreneur Corps and led the creation and establishment of the social enterprises/organizations Soluciones Comunitarias (SolCom), Turismo Ixil (TIX) and the Centro Explorativo (CentroEx). We invite you to learn more about CE Solutions' effective and efficient social entrepreneurship "rural access through entrepreneurship" and "rural education" innovations through the information provided on the www.cesolutions.org website and we hope you will support our work.
Soluciones Comunitarias
CE Solutions website – Rural Access through Entrepreneurship

NDSG leadership concluded several years ago that, whilst we play a critical role in incubating new ideas, training and growth, a separate, financially and administratively sustainable organization needed to be created to perpetuate the MicroConsignment Model over the long term. As such, following our example of creating the locally owned and profitable tourism businesses in Nebaj, leadership established “Soluciones Comunitarias” (SolCom), a Guatemalan company. CE Solutions and Social Entrepreneur Corps continue to be a source of capital, training and ideas but SolCom is owned and managed by the rural entrepreneurs who have “risen through the ranks” as leaders in the MicroConsignment enterprises. SolCom manages and grows the hub (regional coordinators) and spoke (entrepreneurs) system that has been highly effective in achieving social, economic, health and environmental impact to date through our MicroConsignment Model. To date we approximate that SolCom activities have generated over $1 million in direct economic benefit for rural Guatemalans.
Turismo Ixil

Turismo Ixil (TIX) is the social enterprise holding company for the rural tourism businesses that NDSG leadership first started in 2002. TIX is located in Nebaj, Guatemala and is owned and managed by local Ixil Guatemalans. TIX consists of El Descanso restaurant, Guias Ixiles Guiding and Trekking Service, The Nebaj Language School, La Red Internet Center and Media Luna Medio Sol Hostel. TIX was first started with a $2,500 initial investment and has earned over $600,000 to date in a region where the average daily income is $3.
The Centro Explorativo
CE Solutions website – Rural Education

The Centro Explorative (CentroEx) is a local association that grew out of an education initiative of NDSG leadership and is fully supported through CE Solutions donations. What began as a closet-sized library with 100 books in 2003 has now organically grown into a full service education center with locations in the towns of Nebaj and La Pista, Guatemala. The Centro has over 1300 books, has provided free computer and internet classes to hundreds of youth and children, provides free after-school classes five days a week to an average of 40 children year round and employs three full time teachers. The services and benefits of the Centro continue to increase and have served thousands of Ixil Guatemalans in response to community needs.

Social Entrepreneur Corps
“Impact through Opportunity”
www.socialentrepreneurcorps.com
Social Entrepreneur Corps (SE Corps), a US based limited liability corporation, was established as the sister organization to CE Solutions to provide university students, recent graduates and young professionals with the means to truly experience and participate in innovative development work. Social Entrepreneur Corps is a social enterprise whose mission is to provide financial and human resources support to the programs established by CE Solutions as well as other development organizations and small businesses. Through our years of experience we have learned how to elegantly train and integrate budding social entrepreneurs as apprentices into our development efforts in order to create greater grassroots impact. Through Social Entrepreneur Corps we have been able to create a unique situation in which all parties involved, volunteers and beneficiaries alike, gain immeasurably from the experience. We have developed a methodology whereby all participants both add and derive tremendous value. Social Entrepreneur Corps leadership brings a depth and breadth of experience that few organizations can match. Social Entrepreneur Corps currently has programs in Guatemala and Ecuador and has established strategic relationships with universities such as the University of Notre Dame, the University of Connecticut, Columbia University, Duke University, Miami University(Ohio), the College of William and Mary and Franklin and Marshall.
